Joey Logano and the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion team will start third when the green flag flies for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event, the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Logano posted a lap of 30.460 seconds (177.282 mph) around the old, rough 1.5-mile track. It was Logano’s second-straight third-place qualifying effort. He started from third last weekend at Phoenix.
“I really thought we could run better with our Shell-Pennzoil Ford, but when you end up being a little disappointed with a third-place effort, I guess that’s a good thing,” said Logano. “I’ve really learned to love this track after not really running so hot here early in my career. We spent a good amount of time in race trim today and I think we are pretty strong there too. One more race and one more chance to win.”
The Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway will air live at 3:00 p.m. ET on ESPN on Sunday afternoon. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 90.
