Joey Logano and the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion will start Sunday’s Quicken Loans Race Heroes 500 from the fourth position after posting a lap time of 25.389 seconds and a speed of 141.794 mph in the second round of Friday’s qualifying session at Phoenix International Raceway. Logano broke the track qualifying record in the first round with a fast lap of 25.327 seconds at 142.141 mph, topping the previous mark of 25.828 seconds at 139.384 mph set by Keselowski on February 28, 2014.
“It’s a decent place to start,” said Logano. “We know what we have to do, but this is the second time we came here and set a track record but didn’t start first. We’re good at that this year. We’re good at going fast in the first round and then it’s something we’re missing in the second round. We don’t carry the speed over as well as others do, so we’ll figure it out.”
ESPN will provide live coverage of Sunday’s race at 3 p.m. ET. MRN Radio affiliates and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio will provide the live radio broadcast.
