Joey Logano qualified 12th for the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The driver of the No. 22 Shell Pennzoil/Hertz Ford Fusion for Penske Racing turned a lap time of 27.983 seconds at an average of 192.974 mph. Logano fell victim to an early qualifying draw, as four of the top-five qualifiers came in the final six runs of the session.

“I had a really good three and four, but one and two was a nightmare-and-a-half,” said Logano. “I missed the bottom trying really hard to put the thing on the pole. Every once in a while that works for you and every now and again it doesn’t, so that’s what you get for going for it. Had we went later in the session, we would have had a shot for the pole. The track got a lot faster as the night went on. The guys with a late draw definitely had an advantage.”

The Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway will air live at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC on Saturday evening. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on the Performance Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 90.
