Joey Logano, driver of the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion, qualified 9th for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Logano turned a lap of 48.432 seconds at an average of 185.828 mph in the final session to grab the 9th position.
“It’s been a tough weekend so far,” said Logano. “We’re trying to get more speed in our car. We’ve got the balance somewhat close, but we still don’t have a whole bunch of speed, so that’s frustrating when that happens. We’re just trying to figure it out. This is the best we’ve been, and that’s good and bad. It’s the best we’ve been that’s good, but it’s bad that we’re not first for that reason. We’ll keep working on it and get there eventually.”
The Brickyard 400 gets underway at 1 p.m. EST Sunday with live coverage provided by ESPN beginning with a pre-race show at noon.
