No. 20 Dollar General Toyota News & Notes:

  • DOLLAR GENERAL BACK WITH LOGANO IN NNS: Dollar General will return as sponsor of the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota in the NASCAR Nationwide Series this weekend at Richmond International Raceway. It will be the second time this season that Dollar General has rode with Logano in the Nationwide Series, the first coming at Phoenix International Raceway where Logano finished eighth after starting 10th. Dollar General also serves as a full-time sponsor for Brian Scott in the Nationwide Series, so DG will be well represented with two cars in the Nationwide Series event this weekend.
  • PRETTY GOOD RICHMOND TRACK RECORD: Last year, Logano skipped the NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Richmond International Raceway and his teammate Denny Hamlin took the team to Victory Lane. This year, Logano is back in Richmond and hopes to build on what is a pretty good track record at the facility. Logano has made three previous NASCAR Nationwide Series starts at the .75-mile oval, earning two sixth-place finishes and one seventh-place finish in those events. Qualifying has been even more impressive, as Logano has started first (the result of a rainout), fourth and fifth. That is an average starting position of 3.3 and ranks as the third best average starting position of all NASCAR Nationwide Series tracks Logano has raced at.
  • BACK WHERE I COME FROM: The night before the NASCAR Nationwide Series event, Logano will play the part of TV analyst during the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East event at Richmond. Logano will be in the SPEED booth to call a race for the first time ever. Logano has quite a history with the East Series. He was the series Rookie of the Year and Champion in 2007, winning seven races between the East Series, West Series and the annual Toyota All-Star Showdown at Irwindale Speedway. The broadcast starts at 7pm ET.
  • CHARITY RACING FOR DENNY: Also on tap for Thursday night is the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown. Logano will be driving the No. 20 Toyota for owner and Late Model superstar Jamie Caudill. Logano has competed in the last two Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown charity events. In 2010, the final year the event was held at Southside Speedway, Logano was running in the top-10 before getting involved in an accident with fellow NASCAR driver Marcos Ambrose. Last season, Logano kept his nose out of trouble and finished fourth in the event behind Michael Waltrip and Chase Elliott.
  • BRINGING ATTENTION TO AUTISM SPEAKS THIS MONTH: For the month of April, Dollar General and Joe Gibbs Racing will recognize National Autism Awareness Month by sporting the Autism Speaks blue puzzle piece logo on the rear quarter panels of their Dollar General Toyotas. In their efforts to raise awareness, Dollar General is offering customers the opportunity to make donations to Autism Speaks during store check-out throughout the month of April.
  • THIS WEEK ON THE NO. 20 DOLLAR GENERAL TOYOTA: Dollar General vendor partners Hanes, Hefty Reynolds, Betty Crocker, Downy, Pledge and Clorox will be featured on Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 20 Toyota Camry this weekend at Richmond Int’l Raceway.
  • THE RACE: The Virginia 529 College Savings 250 at Richmond International Raceway (Richmond, VA; .75-mile oval) kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday, April 27. Watch and listen live on ESPN2, Sirius XM Channel 90 and MRN Radio starting at 7 p.m. ET.

From the Cockpit:

Joey Logano Quotes: “It feels weird heading back to Richmond since I didn’t get to run there last year in the Nationwide Series, but I’m sure it felt weird last year not running in that race all at the same time. Last year, my teammate Denny Hamlin won the race with Adam Stevens and all of the guys and that was huge for them. They really were able to learn a lot from Denny and he totally dominated the race. Hopefully, we can take some of those notes from last year and apply them to this year and have just as good of a Dollar General Toyota as he did last year. It would be great to finally be able to get Dollar General in Victory Lane.

“There has been a lot of tough competition in the Nationwide Series so far this year. We went from winning one race to the very next race not even being in the hunt. There are a lot of good cars and the Nationwide Series only guys are really strong this season. And this weekend will be no different. Plus, you’ve got Denny Hamlin in a Joe Gibbs Racing car, so everyone knows he will be the guy to beat. He is so good at this track. If I can just learn something from him and stay right there, I think we’ll have a shot at winning the race. That is what we want to do, go out there, lead laps and win races. I think we’ll have a shot this weekend.”

From the Pit Box:

Adam Stevens Quotes: “Richmond is a driver’s track for sure. We practice in the morning and race at night, so the track conditions are quite a bit different and puts more emphasis on the driver and his experience. You have to know what you want your car to do and be able to communicate that to your team. We tend to get long green flag runs here which means you have to manage your tires to be fast at the end of a run. If you have a good car you can pass. It’s not all about track position.”
