Joey Logano and the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion team qualified eighth for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event, the Toyota-Save Mart 350, at Sonoma Raceway. Logano turned a lap of 75.788 seconds at 94.527 mph on the 10-turn, 1.99-mile road course.

“I think we could have been even faster, but I took it a little easy coming into the hairpin on my lap because I overshot it on the warm-up lap and I didn’t want to push it and lose even more time,” said Logano, who has a pole at Sonoma. “But I’m happy with a top-10 starting position. That gives you a chance to get a great pit stall and start up front at a track where passing is tough.”

The Toyota-Save Mart 350 will air live at 2:00 p.m. ET on TNT on Sunday afternoon. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 90.
