No. 20 Dollar General Toyota News & Notes:

  • WELCOME BACK DOLLAR GENERAL: Dollar General will return to the side of the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota this weekend in the “Lone Star State,” the third of 12 scheduled events where Dollar General will serve as the primary sponsor for Logano. Dollar General has been a mainstay sponsor in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for the last several seasons, but moved over to the Joe Gibbs Racing operation this season to expand their program. Dollar General also serves as a full-time sponsor for Brian Scott in the Nationwide Series, as well as a second car with Logano and Denny Hamlin.
  • DOLLAR GENERAL DAY: Prior to last week’s rare “off weekend” in the Sprint Cup Series, Logano spent some time at Dollar General’s corporate headquarters in Goodlettsville, TN as part of Dollar General Race Day, an annual celebration for employees to recognize their hard work for the year. As part of this year’s celebration, Dollar General was also celebrating their 10,000th store, which opened March 31st in Merced, CA. As a congratulation on the 10,000th store and a thank you for joining the JGR family, Logano presented Dollar General CEO Rick Dreiling with the actual steering wheel and race gloves used in the Las Vegas event back in March, which was Dollar General’s first as a Sprint Cup Series sponsor.
  • SPECIAL TIMES: SPENDING SOME TIME WITH THE KIDS: While in Nashville for Dollar General Race Day, Logano along with Coach Joe Gibbs, teammate Brian Scott and Kyle Busch Motorsports driver Jason Leffler all visited the Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and spent some time with many of the kids in the hospital. All four spent time visiting children, signing hero cards and passing out small Dollar General replica racecars.
  • TESTING, TESTING, 1,2,3: Following Dollar General Race Day, Logano stayed over in Nashville and spent Wednesday and Thursday of last week testing at Nashville Superspeedway. The private test was in an effort to help the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing team learn a bunch of new things for the intermediate tracks on the NASCAR schedule.
  • BRINGING ATTENTION TO AUTISIM SPEAKS THIS MONTH: For the month of April, Dollar General and Joe Gibbs Racing will recognize National Autism Awareness Month by sporting the Autism Speaks blue puzzle piece logo on the rear quarter panels of their Dollar General Toyotas. In their efforts to raise awareness, Dollar General is offering customers the opportunity to make donations to Autism Speaks during store check-out throughout the month of April.
  • THIS WEEK ON THE NO. 20 DOLLAR GENERAL TOYOTA: Dollar General vendor partners Totino’s, Hanes, Hefty Reynolds, Clorox and Downy will be featured on Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 20 Toyota Camry this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.
  • THE RACE: The Samsung Mobile 500 at Texas Motor Speedway (Fort Worth, TX; 1.5-mile tri-oval) is set for Saturday evening, April 14, 2012. The race will be broadcast on FOX at 7:00 p.m. ET, with radio coverage on PRN.

From the Cockpit:

Joey Logano Quotes: “I’m excited to get back to the track and see what Texas holds for us. It was nice to have the weekend off, but like any racecar driver, when you aren’t at the track all you are thinking about is getting back to the track and getting going. It was a nice break to let our guys recharge and hopefully figure some things out. We went up to Nashville Superspeedway and tested last week and I think that was a huge help for us. So now, we can head into Texas and try to get back to that form we were at in the beginning of the season.

“Texas has not been one of my better tracks on the schedule. I like the track a lot, but I’ve always struggled there a bit, which is surprising considering how well I’ve run there in the Nationwide Series and how well I run at a place like Charlotte. My goal this weekend is to just go out there and get another solid start, run up in the top-10 all day and come home with a solid finish. If we can be there in contention to win, that is just that much better.”

From the Pit Box:

Jason Ratcliff Quotes: “Texas is one of my favorite tracks on the schedule. I lived in the Dallas area for many years and still have some friends and family that live in the area. I’ve been fortunate to win at Texas Motor Speedway (in the NASCAR Nationwide Series cars with JGR driver Kyle Busch) and have a lot of great memories at the track. I’m looking forward to a successful race at Texas with Joey and the 20 team.”
