No. 18 Dollar General Toyota News & Notes:

  • LOOKING FOR ANOTHER POINTS CHAMPIONSHIP: The No. 18 Dollar General Toyota Camry and driver Joey Logano brought home the win at the Nationwide Series’ most recent race at Dover International Speedway, extending their lead in the Owner’s Championship point standings. The 18 team is now 34 points ahead of the second place No. 2 Richard Childress Racing team and 46 markers ahead of the third place No. 6 Roush-Fenway Racing team. Logano has been a big part of the success of the No. 18 team this year, with three of his four Nationwide Series wins coming behind the wheel of the No. 18 Toyota. Denny Hamlin and Michael McDowell have also each spent time behind the wheel of the No. 18 JGR Toyota in 2012. JGR has won three Owner’s Championships in the last four years. The No. 20 team, which Logano was a part of, won the Owner’s Championship in 2008 and the No. 18 team won it in both 2009 and 2010.
  • LOGANO ON A ROLL IN THE NATIONWIDE SERIES: Right now, there is no hotter driver in the NASCAR Nationwide Series than Joey Logano. In the last four races, Logano has scored three wins and a pole and has an average starting position of 3.0 and an average finish of 2.2 in those four events. Over that same span of races, Logano has led a total of 201 laps. In fact, Logano is on a pace to lead the most laps in his NASCAR Nationwide Series career. He has already led a total of 425 laps this season (and has led laps in seven of the 10 events he’s competed in). His career best mark for laps led in a single-season came in 2010, when he led 615 laps. His 154 laps led in his win at Dover just two weeks ago also set a mark for the most he’s ever led in a single event.
  • NATIONWIDE SUCCESS LEADS TO CUP SUCCESS: While the NASCAR Nationwide Series season has been going to plan for Logano and the rest of the No. 18 team, Joey has found life in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series a little more difficult. However, that all changed last weekend, when Logano broke a 104-race winless streak and took his second career Sprint Cup Series win, coming at Pocono Raceway. Logano won the pole for the event and led the most laps in the event.
  • ONE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS: Joe Gibbs Racing made NASCAR history two weeks ago with their one-two-three sweep in Dover International Speedway’s 200-mile Nationwide Series event. The three-car organization was the first NASCAR Nationwide Series team to ever accomplish this feat. Joe Gibbs Racing’s one-two-three history-making sweep included Joey Logano (No. 18 Dollar General Toyota) earning the win, Ryan Truex (No. 20 Grime Boss Toyota) in second and Brian Scott (No. 11 Dollar General Toyota) finishing in third.
  • THIS WEEK ON THE NO. 18 DOLLAR GENERAL TOYOTA: Dollar General vendor partners Today and Always, STP, Gildan, Mucinex, Suave Men, Glad, Slim Jim, Kleenex, Colgate, Purex and Kraft Macaroni & Cheese will be featured on Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 18 Toyota Camry this weekend at Michigan International Speedway.
  • THE RACE: The Alliance Truck Parts 250 at Michigan International Speedway (Brooklyn, MI; 2-mile oval) is set for Saturday, June 16. Watch and listen live on ABC, Sirius XM Channel 90 and MRN Radio starting at 3:30 p.m. ET.

From the Cockpit:

Joey Logano Quotes: “I’m really excited to get back in the Dollar General Toyota this weekend with Adam (Stevens, crew chief) and all of the guys over here on the Nationwide side of Joe Gibbs Racing. Things are going really well over here and we have been on a roll. It’s really nice to think that when we show up to the track, we are one of the cars that everyone is looking at and everyone is thinking about having to beat. That just goes to show you what a great job we’ve done with these Nationwide Series cars over the off-season and how far myself, Adam and the entire JGR Nationwide Series have come. Last year was not the type of year that we wanted on the Nationwide side. This year, things have turned around; Adam is more confident and I’m more confident. Our communication is great and the entire team is working together well. And that has showed in our performance. We’ve been strong all year and I hope to continue that this weekend.”

From the Pit Box:

Adam Stevens Quotes: “Obviously what most people are going to be talking about is the repave. I’m sure that will mean that there will be lots of grip and that will likely mean we will never come out of the throttle. I think it might actually be closed to a superspeedway race than a typical intermediate track race. And for that reason, I think scuffs might be better than stickers as far as tires, which is pretty typical on a repave. We have extra practice time which will give all of us time to try some different setups and see which one will work the best. There are a lot of different ideas a lot of people will have I think. Pit strategy and track position will be a big part of the race so that is always going to be in the back of your mind. Right now, Joey is on a roll on both the Nationwide side and the Cup side. So we feel like we should be the car to beat.”
