THE NEWS & NOTES
  • STRONG RUNS CONTINUE: Joey Logano brought home a fourth-place finish last weekend at Kentucky Speedway, which marked his seventh-straight race (counting the NASCAR All-Star event) of earning an 11th place or better finish. Logano has now finished 11th or better in nine of the last 13 points-paying races dating back to the March event at Auto Club Speedway, where Logano dominated before getting involved in a late-race incident while battling for the win.
  • TOP 10 IN POINTS: With his fourth-place finish at Kentucky, Logano vaulted up four spots in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series point standings to 10th place, which would earn him a position in the Chase. However, the hard work of climbing from 19th to 10th in the point standings isn’t over, as Logano sits just one point ahead of 11th and just two points ahead of 12th place in the standings. The 10th-place position in points is the highest Logano has ranked this late in a season in his Cup Series career.
  • BUSY LOGANO: The week leading into Daytona will be a busy one for Logano. The 23-year-old will go go-karting with his Nationwide Series team to celebrate their recent success, will visit Victory Junction and make several appearances while in Daytona. Logano will also return to double duty this weekend, driving the No. 22 Ford Mustang in the NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Daytona.
  • PRESS ANNOUNCEMENT: Logano will be a part of a special press announcement on Friday afternoon, July 5, prior to the start of Nationwide Series qualifying at Daytona. The event will take place at 1:00 pm ET at the Ford Racing display outside of the turn four tunnel at DIS.

THE Q&A

HOW MUCH CONFIDENCE HAVE YOU GAINED FROM YOUR LAST FEW RACES?

“I mean you can’t say that it hasn’t given you a little added confidence, but you also know that you can never stop working. We are running really well right now, but we want to win races. We want to be a constant threat to be a top-five and top-10 car every single week. And we are working towards that. But you can’t ever think you are running just well enough. I think we are just hitting the tip of what this team is capable of doing. We just need to keep it up and keep doing what we are doing each weekend.”

YOU’VE RUN WELL BUT NOT HAD GREAT FINISHES IN THE TWO RESTRICTOR-PLATE RACES THIS YEAR. HOW DO YOU TURN IT AROUND?

“We ran really well at both Daytona and Talladega this year already. We were in the top five late at Daytona and just got shuffled out and at Talladega, we were third during the long red flag and once we started going again, the engine let go. So I don’t think we really need to do anything different. We are running well. We just need to be there at the finish. And that is what we need to work on this weekend.”
