Joey Logano and the No. 22 AAA Insurance Ford Fusion earned his 12th-career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole, and his fourth of the season, Friday evening in qualifying for the SpongeBob SquarePants 400 at Kansas Speedway. Logano was second quick in the first round, but slipped back to eighth in round two before crew chief Todd Gordon made some big changes to the No. 22 Fusion for the final go around. With the changes, Logano clicked off a lap of 28.067 seconds (192.398 mph) en route to earning his fourth pole of the year. He also became the youngest pole winner at Kansas Speedway. Brad Keselowski, driver of the No. 2 Avaya Ford Fusion, looked to have the upper hand in the final round of qualifying when he put his Ford “p1” early in the session, only to get beat out by Logano and eventual second-place qualifier Kasey Kahne. It was Keselowski’s third top-five starting spot of the season.

The SpongeBob SquarePants 400 will air live Saturday night, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. ET on FOXSports 1. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Channel 90.
