Joey Logano, driver of the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion, led the Team Penske charge in Friday afternoon’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying sessions at Kansas Speedway, clocking in the fourth fastest time of the final round with a lap of 27.544 seconds around the 1.5-mile oval.

Logano was fourth in the first round, third in the second round and ended up fourth in the final round. Logano’s final round time was actually tied with that of Jeff Gordon’s, but Logano got the position based off of points following the Dover event.

“That’s about where we practiced, so I’m happy with that lap,” said Logano, who finished fourth in the spring race at Kansas. “It’s good to get a good qualifying spot and a good pit stall to help keep track position all day on Sunday. We started out today in some race trim and we were pretty fast. I think we have a good baseline to start from tomorrow in those two practice sessions. I’m pretty excited about the Shell-Pennzoil Ford this weekend.”

The Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway will air live Sunday, October 5 at 2:00 p.m. ET on ESPN. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Channel 90.
