Huntersville, NC. (June 25, 2014) – NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Joey Logano visited the Boys and Girls Club of Cabarrus County in Concord, NC to make a very special delivery. The Joey Logano Foundation purchased team building equipment for the kids to include items such as Tug-of-War ropes, Spider’s Web, Human Ladders and much more. These items will be utilized for indoor or outdoor play and will serve as an engaging learning tool for the children to learn and practice teamwork skills.

“I’ve always wanted to do something to support the local Boys & Girls Club”, said Logano. “It’s a welcoming place where kids can just be kids. They are able to do their homework, play in the gym, and enjoy an afternoon snack. A lot of these kids here would not be financially capable of participating in this type of afterschool program. But these kids are given that second chance thanks to generous donors, employees, and volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club.”

The Cabarrus County Boys and Girls Club serves 2,000 children per year and offers summer opportunities for kids who would otherwise be home with little to no supervision. The club seeks to provide children with positive, mentally and physically engaging activities in order to facilitate the development of healthy life skills and a strong commitment to the community. Over 500 children are enrolled in this year’s summer program.

When Logano arrived, kids were brought into the gym for what they thought was an ordinary play day. Instead, they had the opportunity to participate in a Q&A with Logano before playing on their new equipment thanks to the coordination of the Boys and Girls Club Athletic Director, Mark Tracy.

When asked about the impact, Mark was grateful, “The impact is immeasurable!  We have had zero team building equipment in the past, and I feel that team building activities are an important part of physical education and general education. We sincerely thank you so much!”
